BarCamp Miami

So I gave my first talk at BarCamp - I was supposed to be sync’d up with Davide Di Cillo & Alessandra Colaci. But I woke up late - my talk was a little redundant - so I’ve reformatted it. Many thanks to everyone who was there for my speech & thanks for the great questions.

Anyone interested in hiring me for freelance - you can send an email to [my first name DOT my last name] @ Google’s mail service. Here is the edited presentation:

Accepted in iPhone Developer Program!

I received my iPhone developer approval/activation code today. I am very excited! I no longer have to create web apps [imixx, izillow + coverage, indeed + vid] (although the benefit is that they work nicely on any mobile webkit based phone). I have some very awesome projects coming forth within the next 3 months and I can’t wait to share them here!

We’re doing very well at Lead Log, Dashboard is almost ready to ship and we’ve signed up well over 200 people. I’m collaborating with Diamond Supply Co. on a super dope iPhone app. I’m planning to crank out a few weekend webapps within the next month. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, I am launching my first “serious” venture with Chet & Errol, mobuilt. We’re going to be building iPhone applications, so please stay tuned.

Also, one last thing, I want to help people find solutions faster, so here is a guide to hooking up a linksys router with comcast. I had this problem today, and found the solution helpful.

I leave you with Indeed on the iPhone, possibly my last iPhone webapp (not really, just kidding).

Gary Vee Challenges My Opinion

Galerie Perrotin - Miami

I visited the Galerie Perrotin in Miami yesterday. I had the opportunity to get some face time with 3 truly amazing artists (Daniel Arsham, Conrad Shawcross & KAWS). You can check out their interviews at Limite as I post them. The first is KAWS.

The gallery is pretty amazing and I had a great time and got to see some cool art. Here are a few shots:

Using the Zillow API for NYT Coverage

Very recently, a mashup I created, called iZillow was featured in the New York Times. A few people had asked me how I pulled it off. I thought it would be cool if I shared the story of how it happened on the net, mainly because it was a fluke.

Here is how the idea found its way from my head to the New York Times[link to story]:

Hamburg in a day!

Everybody, head over to Limite Magazine and read my post: Ready, Jet Set, Go! Hamburg in a day.

Then come back here and let me know what you think of it.

WP 2.6, Redesign & comments.

I’m pretty happy I finally got around to re-designing my site. I still have some cleaning to do, like laying out the categories pages, adding some redirects for old posts and old subdomains, but other than that we’re ready to rock.

This may the closest I have ever come to actually being almost satisfied with my design. It’s fairly simple, but hey I did it myself! Also, I’ve been working on some non-tech related stuff at limitemagazine.com. We have our “launch” on Tuesday so wish us luck.

Some new snazzy doodads you’ll notice are the comments, by disqus. Big up’s to the creators of that! Also, I added boxes to the left side and will be taking down all other pages/subdomains. Also, we’ve got a fresh install of Wordpress for my relaunch, so thanks Matt Mullenweg & co!

Also,I know it’s off topic, but I wanted to take this time to highlight a blog post from Marc Benioff, CEO of Sales Force, trying to legitimize “Web 3.0″. Buzzword creation aside, he goes on to talk about how client-server software is taking over in the enterprise, more specifically, Marc says:

“Web 3.0 is about replacing existing software platforms with a new generation of platforms as a service.”

I only have one thing to say, Marc, you are 100% correct. We’ll leave at that for now.

Lastly, I wanted to give you an idea of what I will be writing about so here is my unofficial list.

  • PR for startups. Who, When, Where and How.
  • Web Marketing for Startups. It’s not as hard as you think.
  • iPhone web application development. It’s easy with or without a framework.
  • Media Coverage/Usage/Inner Workings of the iZillow application I built with Safire.

So now that I’ve got a general roadmap to follow, I’ll start on the list in reverse order, starting next week. Have a good weekend!
